Meet J. Karl Voglmayr

J. Karl A. Voglmayr “Karl” is the founder of Washington Landmark Construction LLC (WLC), a DC-based real estate development company specializing in the construction of single family homes and restoration of multi-unit historic buildings. In a relatively short-time, Karl has made WLC an award winning firm while at the same time expanding his career from design and construction to teaching. He is presently an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies where he brings his expertise in all phases of real estate development acquired from close to 30-years’ experience in the region’s construction and development industry.

In 2017, WLC won the prestigious Montgomery County Planning Department Design Excellence Award for its innovative design and construction of the dilapidated 100 year-old Grecian-styled gymnasium at the National Park Seminary (NPS) in Silver Spring, Maryland. Prior to this award, the now 12-unit state-of-the-art condominium complex received the county’s 2015 Historic Preservation Award for its modernizing design approach, which executed successfully the adaptation of the Grecian architectural design to accommodate modern conveniences.

Karl began his real estate career as a superintendent for Trammell Crow Company, the largest commercial real estate developer in the United States, and became one of its youngest project managers before founding Washington Landmark in 1992 He has constructed more than 20 unique architecturally-designed single family homes in the Washington, DC area for clients. On the development side, Karl built or repurposed numerous buildings, which include high-rises, boutique condominium buildings, and numerous single family home conversions.

Karl graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Comparative Politics from Clark University in Worcester, MA and holds a Master’s in Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC. Karl resides with his wife, Lorrette and their three children: Alexander, Bridget and Peter, in the District’s American University Park neighborhood.

Meet Trevor Voglmayr

Trevor came to the DC area in 1990 where he studied at Georgetown and American University. From 1992-2019 Trevor worked with Washington Landmark Construction (WLC) as a project manager. He bridged the gap between the home owner, the architect, and the structural engineer. This led to seamless projects and many happy homeowners. Trevor has managed large multi-unit condominium renovations, custom retail stores, as well as many custom homes. Maximizing space and use ability is one of Trevor’s specialties.

Trevor has received many accolades and distinctions over the years. In 2008, Trevor received the SEMA Global Media Award as well as U.S. patents for an innovative truck rack system. In 2015, WLC received The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Award for it’s restoration of The Gymnasium at the National park Seminary. In 2017, The Gymnasium was awarded The Montgomery County Planning Department Design Excellence Award.

Trevor resides in Maryland with his wife and two children where he continues to create one-of-a-kind spaces and custom furnishings.
